*Reminder to update your Profiles!

The Michael Skolnik Medical Transparency Act in Colorado requires physicians to update their physician profiles including health care related financial interests or employment, settlements, and judgments.  To update their profiles, physicians can go to: https://www.dora.state.co.us/pls/real/PPR.logon  You will need to logon using your SS# and password.

The Division of Registrations wishes to remind physicians to report health care-related employment relationships in cases where compensation exceeds $5,000 in one year.  Examples of these requirements include honoraria for presentations, consultant fees and fees earned from participation in clinical trials.  These must be updated on an annual basis.

Physicians are also required to disclose any ownership interest in any health care-related business regardless of whether the business is located in Colorado and regardless of the size of the interest in the business.  Physicians must report the entity that made the payment, the length of the contract, and their role within the entity.  Also updated yearly.

We also stress that any indemnity payment made as a result of a professional liability action must be reported by updating the physicians profile WITHIN 30 DAYS.  A letter to the CMB reporting the indemnity does not satisfy the reporting requirement – the physician is required to update his/her profile on the web site.  There are also many significant other reportable actions under the ACT.  These are summarized by CMB policy 40-21 at www.dora.state.co.us/medical/policies/40-21.pdf
