Colorado Physicians Laud Hillary Browne, MD, for Leadership and Innovation
DENVER (Sept. 19, 2011) Colorado physicians honored Hillary L. Browne, MD, a physician in private practice in Boulder, for business leadership at its 141st Annual Meeting in Breckenridge, Sept. 8-11.
Dr. Browne recently led her practice, Spruce Street Internal Medicine, through an innovative transformation to accommodate advances in information technology and new federal requirements and demonstrated immediate and measurable results in improving the patient experience. Recognizing her success, Lt. General James Roudebush, MD, MPH, U.S. Air Force Surgeon General, (Ret.) cited her work in his keynote address to an audience of more than 300 physicians and providers.
“Dr. Browne’s ability to set goals and develop procedures to achieve them are a model for physicians working in today’s tumultuous healthcare environment,” Roudebush said. “She transformed her practice culture, implemented new technologies for electronic medical records and realized several quality improvement measures in chronic disease management while increasing patient communication.”
Her accomplishments are significant today as physicians are embracing new ways to develop medical homes, implement electronic health information technology and develop better ways to communicate with their patients and other providers.
“Like all physicians, we are looking for ways to improve quality and to measure the results of what we are doing,” she said. “Improving the care of our patients has always been our highest priority, and it is the reason we have embraced technology.”
Roudebush presented Browne’s practice transformation as a case study and presented her with a commemorative token of excellence.
